Housing Choice Voucher Program
The Housing Choice Voucher Program was established by the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974. This program, funded by HUD, provides rental subsidies to up to 170 low-income families who live in privately-owned housing units throughout Douglas County.
Families pay approximately 30% of their income for housing and utilities. The Superior Housing Authority pays the difference between the fair market rent and the amount contributed by the family as a subsidy.
The Housing Choice Voucher Program is a partnership between private landlords, low-income families, and the Housing Authority. We recognize that it takes all three parties working together to make this program a success, and appreciate the landlord's contribution to this effort.
